IIleys
Foundation (IF)
is
a non-governmental and not-for-profit
organization
dedicated to improving the lives of Somalis.
Ileys, which literally means "Light" in
Somali, stands for a brighter future.
Established in February 2006, IF was conceived
at a meeting held by a group of Somali
professionals, both men and women who have
seen the problems faced by the people in the
central Somali regions. .
The founders of
IF have been moved by the fact that Somalia’s
central regions seem to have been neglected.
Majority of Somali NGOs focus mainly on main
cities like Mogadishu, Kismayo, Baidoa, etc.
at the cost of small towns and villages. In
addition to that, the skilled manpower is also
concentrated in the main cities causing a
brain drain within the country. This trend has
caused a growing movement of people to the
main cities.
But Ileys
Foundation is working hard to reverse that
trend and encourage the educated Somalis to
work in the neglected regions and reciprocally
IF will provide incentives for professionals
to wok for the betterment of lives in central
regions.
Besides
its headquarters in Dhusamarreb, IF has
liaison offices in Mogadishu and Guriel. It
also has representative offices in Europe,
North America and Arab Gulf to undertake
fundraising campaigns from Somali Diaspora.
Vision
Together we
build a caring community with peace, harmony,
self-sufficiency and dignity.
Mission
To promote a caring Somali
society through development and creating
awareness for the well-being of mankind and
animal.
